Love's Been A Long Time

Love’s Been A Long Time
Rick Neeley

(Chorus)

Love’s been a long time, a long time comin’
Love’s been a long time along the way
The road’s a rough one but well worth the runnin

Love’s been a long time comin’ your way

When we were children playing in the sunshine
Who could believe we would grow so fast
And now I know much more than I’m tellin’
Those simple days are a long time past

(Chorus)

Now we’re older and our lives have been changing
Who could believe what the years would do
And now I know much more than I’m tellin’
The simple truth is I found you

 (Bridge)

No one sees into the future
No one knows what tomorrow will hold
Love just happens without reason
We live and love as the days unfold

(Instrumental interlude)

(Bridge)

Love’s been a long time, a long time comin’
Love’s been a long time along the way

The road’s a rough one but well worth the runnin
Love’s been a long time comin’ my way

Outbound Plane
  Outbound Plane
Nanci Griffith/Tom Russell

Don't wanna be standing here with this ticket for this outbound plane
'Cause, I've been here before and somehow this don't feel the same
But, talk is cheap so we could talk all night long
And we may never figure out just where your love went wrong

(chorus)

'Cuz I don't wanna be standin' here
Don't wanna be talkin' here
And I don't really care who's to blame
'Cuz if love won't fly of it's own free will
It's gonna catch that outbound plane

The old folks say that love's not forever anymore
Because young people walk away from love alone to pace the floor
But young or old,  I say that love is still the same
You may walk away from love but you'll fall head and heels again

(Repeat Chorus)

Two lonely hearts in this airport knowing
Neither one  cares where that other heart is going
But, if love won't fly of it's own free will... it's gonna catch that
outbound plane

That frown you're wearing's just you're halo turned upside down
Where is the laughter we once shared back in the lost and found?
These broken wings are gonna leave me here to stand my ground
You can have this ticket for that lonely plane that's flying out

(Repeat Chorus)

Nine Million Bicycles

Nine Million Bicycles
Mike Batt

There are nine million bicycles in Beijing.
That’s a fact, It’s a thing we can’t deny
Like the fact that I will love you ‘til I die

We are twelve billion light years from the edge.
That’s a guess,No one can say it’s true
But I know that I will always be with you.

    I’m warmed by the fire
    Of your love everyday
So don’t call me a liar
Just believe everything that I say.

There are six billion people in the world.
More or less and it makes me feel quite small
But you’re the one I love most of all

    We’re high on a wire
    The world in our sight
    And I’ll never tire
Of the love that you give me every night

There are nine million bicycles in Beijing
That’s a fact It’s a thing we can’t deny
Like the fact that I will love you ‘til; I die

And there are nine million bicycles in Beijing,
And you know that I will love ‘til I die.

Gonna Be The Last Time

Gonna Be The Last Time
Chris McNamara

You were there, my eyes were closed
Ain’t that the way it goes
I turned around to look and see
You laugh and walk away from me

(Refrain)

Gonna be the last time, gonna be the last time
Gonna be the last time I fall for you
Its gonna be the last time, gonna be the last time
The last time I fall for you

Sadness here and sadness there
Which one today will care
If a plan is made or a whisper spoken
Or another promise broken

(Refrain)

 (Bridge)
There’s a hot time in town tonight,
The music’s playin’ and the stars are bright
Couples dance and hold on tight
But here I stand knowin’
that I’m goin'
’Home alone tonight
This is the last time I fall for you

(Refrain)

It’s a funny life I tend to make
Always more give than take
The more I love the more I lose
But never
  if and when I choose

(Extended Final Refrain)

Gonna be the last time, gonna be the last time
Gonna be the last time I fall for you
Last time I fall for you, last time I call you
The last time I fall for you
Gonna be the last time, Gonna be the last damn time
Last time I fall for you ,

This is the last time I fall for you

Shadows
  Shadows
Gordon Lightfoot

Let me reach out love and touch you
Let me hold you for awhile
I've been all around the world
Oh how I long to see you smile
There's a shadow on the moon
And the waters here below
Do not shine the way they should
And I love you just in case you didn't know

Let it go, let it happen like it happened once before
  It's a wicked wind
And it chills me to the bone
And if you do not believe me
Come and gaze upon the shadow at your door

Won't you lie down by me baby
Run your fingers through my hands
I've been all around the town
And still I do not understand

Is it me or is it you
Or the shadow of a dream
Is it wrong to be in love
Could it be the finest love I've ever seen

Set it free, let it happen like it happened once before

It's a wicked wind and it chills me to the bone
And if you do not believe me

Come and gaze upon the shadow at your door

Please kiss me gently darling
Where the river runs away
From the mountains in the springtime
n a blue and windy day
When there's beauty all around
As the shades of night grow deep
As the morning stars grow dim
They will find us in the shadows fast asleep

Let it go, let it happen like it happened once before
  I
t's a wicked wind and it chills me to the bone
And if you do not believe me
Come and gaze upon the shadow at your door

Mr. Radio

Mr. Radio
Roderick Taylor

Oh, what a sunny day
When they carried the radio home
Bringin' him in off of the truck
And the dogs wouldn't leave us alone
Mr. Radio, you come down here to keep us company

We listen in a room
Through miles and miles of night
Deep in the heart of the bible belt
In the golden radio lightI
Mr. Radio, you come down here to keep us company

And it's hard days out in the field
With the crows in the high tree top
If a man's away from his home all day
His chickens might fall to the fox
Mr Radio, what can you do about that? Uh, huh.

And you can take me down to a river town
Where the citizensd dance until dawn
They dance so close, it's a sin, almost
         The way they carry on
Mr. Radio, I never dreamed you could

And it's miles at the careless touch
Of a tired hand in time
When evening fell I heard a stramger sell
Dreams that never were mine
Mr. Radio, you come down here to keep us company

Samson & Delilah

Samson & Delilah
Rev. Gary Davis

You read about Sampson, you read about his birth
He was the strongest man that ever lived on earth.
One day Sampson was walking alone
Down on the ground and he saw an old jaw-bone.
He picked up that jaw-bone - swung it over his head,
When he got to moving ten thousand were dead.

               If I had my way,

If I had my way in this wicked world,
I would tear this building down.

Sampson and the lion they  got in an attack
Sampson crawled up on the lion’s back
You ‘ve read about this lion -  killed a man with his paw
Sampson he got his hands ‘round the lion’s jaw
And he struggled with that beast till the lion was dead
And the bees made honey in the lion’s head.

               If I had my way,
If I had my way in this wicked world,
I would tear this building down.

               If I had my way,
If I had my way in this wicked world,
I would tear this building down.

Delilah was a woman, fine and fair
Had good looks, God knows, cold black hair
Delilah she climbed up on Sampson’s knee
Said tell me where your strength lies, now if you please
She talked so fine, she talked so fair,
Sampson said Delilah, just cut off my hair,
You can shave my head just as clean as your hand
And my strength will be like a natural man.

               If I had my way,
If I had my way in this wicked world,
I would tear this building down.

               If I had my way,
If I had my way in this wicked world,
I would tear this building down.
(tag)

If I had my way – If I had my way –
If I had my way   In this wicked world
I would tear this building down

I'm Not Goin' To School

I’m Not Goin’ To School
Chris McNamara

The teachers hate me this I know
They always look away
Whenever I walk down the hall
Any time of day

So, I’m not getting’ up you can’t ,make me
I’m gonna stay in bed all day
I’m not sick, but I can fake it
I’m not goin’ to school today

The kids are meen and the kids are cruel
They don’t play by the golden rule
They think that I can’t hear them laugh
When I turn my back,  but I’m no fool

So, I’m not getting’ up you can’t make me
I’m gonna stay in bed all day
I’m not sick, but I can fake it
I’m not goin’ to school today

Then my mom came in my room
She said, “Boy,  go to school.
Hold you head up give them Hell
Besides you’re the principal.”

So, I’m not getting’ up you can’t make me
I’m gonna stay in bed all day
I’m not sick, but I can fake it
I’m not goin’ to school today

Not getting up, not goin’ to school
I’m gonna stay in bed I’m the principal

The Devil

The Devil
Hoyt Axton

Don’t you know . . .
It’s been rainin’ on the mountain and the river’s on the rise
We cannot hardly reach the other side
And the Devil he’s in trouble I can see it in his eyes
If you don’t give him shelter, he’ll have nom place to hide

The Devil deals in dyin’ and he travels in a hearse
He treats you like a dog now, he’d like to treat you worse
But he don’t have the answers and if he did he’d lie
The Devil is a joker and he don’t want you alive

And some you win and some you lose
And the winners all grin and the losers say. . .
Deal the cards again . . . Oh, won’t you deal the cards again

LA’s in California Lord. I’ve been there many times
It is an education to be sure
Oh, I loved a lovely lady there, she opened up my eyes
She ran a dancing school it was a front, she loved the Lord

And some you win and some you lose
And the winners all grin and the losers say. . .
Deal the cardas again . . . Oh, won’t you deal the cards again
Yeh, yeh, yeh, yeh

Don’t you know . .
It’s been rainin’ on the mountain and the river’s on the rise
We cannot hardly reach the other side
And the Devil he’s in trouble I can see it in his eyes
If you don’t give him shelter, he’ll have no place to hide
If you don’t give him shelter, he’ll have no place to hide

Night Of A Distant Star
  Night of A Distant Star
John Stewart

If something happened to you
Part of me would die
If something good came through
Part of me would fly
It's a critical focus
For I know who you are yeah

You are the light that flashes
In the night of a distant star
You are the light that flashes
In the night of a distant star. Of a distant star

If I had not seen you
I would know you're here
In the crowd of a subway station
Oh, I would feel you near
So build me a fire
So I know where you are

For you are the light that flashes
In the night of a distant star
For you are the light that flashes
In the night of a distant star, Of a distant star

As moonlight covers the sky
A sailor watches the cross
And I am searching your eyes
And the miles yet to be crossed
Nothing here is free

We can all show the scars

In the search for the missing pieces
In the night of a distant star
In the search for the missing pieces
In the night of a distant star,  Of a distant star

You are the light the flashes
In the night of a distant star
Oh, you are the light the flashes

In the night of a distant star
In the night of a distant star
          Of a distant star

Forever Lovin' You

Forever Lovin’ You
Pat Alger / Garth
Brooks

Was it a rainy night, or a sunny day
Was it the last of June or the first of may
Was it the night before, or sometime last year
It’s hard to say it’s not quite clear

No, I don’t know how it happened
          I only know it’s true
But if it ever really matters
You could say I’ve been forever lovin’ you|
          I’ve been forever lovin’ you

Was it the candlelight or maybe it was the wine
Was it the moon that made me lose this heart of mine
Did you work some magic with your eyes
I must confess I’m mystified

No, I don’t know how it happened
          I only know it’s true
But if it ever really matters
You could say I’ve been forever lovin’ you
          I’ve been forever lovin’ you

No, I can’r remember when, or where it all begain
I Can’t recall a time when you weren’t on my mind

No, I don’t know how it happened
          I only know it’s true
But if it ever really matters
You might say I’ve been forever lovin’ you
          I’ve been forever lovin’ you

Two-Ninteen Blues
  Two-Nineteen Blues
Richard C. Jones arr. Bob Gibson

(Refrain:)

Goin' down to the river
Gonna take along my rockin' chair
And if the blues dowen't get me  I'm gonna rock
Gonna rock away from here
I'm gonna lay my head doen on some lonesome railroad track
And let the two-ninteen come along and pacify my mind

Well,  they arrested me ina town down south
I Had empty pockets, I was down in the mouth

I had wormy food and a dirty cell
I hit that guard and I ran like Hell

Sherrif he's still askin' 'round about me

(Refrain)

(Instrumental breaks)

Keep movin' on down that railroad line
Got A heavy load and a worried mind
Tryin' to find a place where I can settle down
But there's just one thing I'd like to know
And that's wehere in the world can a porr man go
Whehn he's tired of ramblin' 'round from town to town

(Refrain)

About Time
  About Time
Hamilton Camp

Nine O’clock, And the timepiece in my pocket ticks the hours away
And I stop, As the wind chimes in the distance, tinkling,
  seem to say
All the songs I’ve ever written, sung, or heard about go running through my mind
That’s the lovely thing about time

Ten—fifteen, and I hear the sound of laughter in the still of night
All serene, as a loving couple passes by it seems so right
But the timepiece in my pocket says the hours of young lovers are soon gone
That’s the saddest thing about time

Time’s a loom on which we weave  the fabric of our destiny
A sacred loom on which we hang our lives
Each one wears a new design sew a straight and crooked line
The garment we will wear eternally

Twelve O’clock, the halfway point between the old and brand new day
And I stop, Just to clear my heart and mind that I might pray
And give thanks that I was put upon this wheel to learn the sacred sounds of rhythm, tune, and rhyme
But most of all to learn about time

[Break]  [Bridge]  [Repeat last verse] [Tag last line to end]
