"When you put two outstanding performers like Rick Neeley
and Chris McNamara on the stage together, you have nothing
short of a scrumptious musical feast! Their witty personalities
interlock to create a stage presence duplicated by few on the
Chicagoland folk circuit. Changes audiences
can't wait for this duo to return."

…John Ostenburg, Changes Coffeehouse, Park Forest

"An evening spent in the presence of Chris McNamara
and Rick Neeley, absorbing their musical gifts,
gives one enough positive energy to last the month
and then some! A truly inspiring folk music experience
for those who have the privilege to see them..."

...Sharon Speziale, Someplace Else  Folk Music Series, LaGrange, Illinois

Rick Neeley & Chris McNamara
The controversy rages on.  What's in a name?

If we are on a first name basis - well, it should be Chris and Rick. That's what Chris said.  If we use only surnames then, McNamara and Neeley rings out.  Well, that's what Chris said too.  If we used both names I thought it should be Rick Neeley and Chris McNamara . . . Chris didn't like that!

We thought if our names were "collided" then we'd naturally become McNeeley !

"Two old friends, special songs, fun and laughter . . . No sesame seed bun!"

But, then we thought we might be headed for trouble with the folks with the golden arches.  So . . . then we thought if we simply used only our initials we could be --  "M and N or N and M."  But, that might be confusing to some rap stars. But - Oh well,  just don't call us late for supper!  That's what Rick said -- and Chris agreed.

"Chris and Rick have transitioned their interests to reach across time.  Their sound and presentation reflect a more worldly and contemporary presentation while never moving too far away from their folk roots."                                        ...Bob Danon, Charlie's Coffee House

"You gave one of the most electrifying, entertaining and awe-inspiring performances of folk music at our facility.  Each and every one of you are extremely talented individuals and consummate professionals.  It was a great opportunity for family and friends to hear a truly extraordinary performance"
                                     ...Barbara Marik, Schaumburg Library

"Our patrons had nothing but wonderful praise for the musical talents of the entire trio. We especially appreciated the songs that were written by Rick and Chris- and the superb combination of  their  voices. And not only are they great singers but masters of  their instruments."
...Terri Campbell, Prospect Heights Library Concert Series

"Having Rick and Chris lead off our concert schedule every year certainly gets it off to a terrific start! The enthusiasm that they show in playing is reflected back to them by the audience. They are such true, talented professionals with such an interesting, extensive repertoire of music that they really can't be beat! The performances that they give are truly enjoyed so much by all."

... Doug Cunningham, President, Friends of the Lisle Library

I met Rick Neeley at a folk club in Davenport, Iowa in 1966 or 67.  He was playing a big 12-string and singing and entertaining as the house act, just Rick and the 12-string and sometimes a bass player.  We lost track of each other for 20 years and one night at the Two Way Street in Downers Grove.  There was Rick, the big 12-string and a banjo!  He was still singing, entertaining, and playing the hell out of that big guitar.

I don't remember exactly where, but I think it was at the Two Way Street again, I first saw and heard Chris McNamara.  Her wonderful harmonies and moving solo work captured my attention and has held it since. Chris reminded me of the best of the female folksingers of my era...but updated and expanded.

Imagine my astonishment and joy at hearing these two sing together.  I felt chills up and down my spine.  I told them later that they were the perfect example of "one and one equaling three."  As much as I have enjoyed them separately, the two of them together is much more.  They embody the "Holy Trinity" of performing, "enthusiasm, vitality, and joy."
. . . Tony Spaeth, contributing columnist for Folk Wax E-zine

Chris says. . .
"I've always loved performing on my own but working with Rick Neeley has been a truly joyous adventure!  His professionalism has given me tremendous freedom to move around within a song."

Rick says. . .
" My original thought was to arrange a song or two to perform with Chris when she would be at my concerts. After our first rehearsal I was inspired by the possibilities.  The potential was reinforced by a very enthusiastic audience response following our first public appearance.   It is tremendously exciting to join voices with Chris and that excitement comes across to the audience. "
